The Green Bay Packers are finally set to have Josh Jacobs back in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions. The running back, who had been in the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt list to start the season due to a domestic violence arrest, will officially be removed from the list on Monday.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Jacobs is set to start immediately upon his return to the lineup against the Lions.
The Packers have gone 3-2 in their first five games of the season without Jacobs, and they have clearly missed the Pro Bowl running back’s production. The Packers are comfortably in last place in rushing yards per game, averaging just 60.4. The Houston Texans, who are second from bottom, are averaging 19.4 rushing yards per game more.

MarShawn Lloyd has proven to be ineffective during his time as the Packers’ lead back. He has rushed for just 112 yards on 40 carries for a paltry 2.8 yards per rush. Second-year back Kaleb Johnson has not been much better with 106 yards on 27 carries. However, Lloyd did star with two touchdowns in the Packers’ big 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears.
The lack of a reliable rushing attack has put a lot of pressure on Jordan Love, but the quarterback has been showing signs of improvement. After struggling with his accuracy to start the season, he has been more locked in of late. He’s completed an impressive 47 out his last 61 pass attempts (77%) over the last two games.
Jacobs’ return would be a major boost to Love and the Packers offense, especially in providing more of a threat in play action.
