Davante Adams is headed for an extended absence after Rams HC Davante Adams said on Monday that the receiver ruptured his hamstring late in Sunday’s 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. McVay put the recovery at six to 10 weeks.
McVay identified the injury as a ruptured semitendinosus. Adams pulled up while running a route into the end zone on the Rams’ go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter, then hobbled off for treatment and did not return. He will undergo a procedure to repair the tendon, and a source told ESPN that Adams hopes to return at the front end of the window, as close to the Rams’ Week 11 bye as possible.

Where the return window lands on the Rams’ schedule
Los Angeles has four games left before that bye: at Las Vegas, a Week 8 home game, at Washington and at Arizona. The first game after the break is a Thanksgiving Eve meeting with the Green Bay Packers at SoFi Stadium on Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. ET, according to the team’s schedule. Green Bay drafted Adams in 2014 and kept him for his first eight seasons.
The long end of McVay’s range would keep Adams out through the Rams’ Christmas Day game at Seattle. Facing his former team on Thanksgiving Eve would require Adams to beat the short end of the estimate, which is the target the ESPN source described.
Adams had 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns in six games, and he led the Rams in receiving yards while Puka Nacua missed two of those games. This is also the second time in less than a year that his hamstring has cost him games. A hamstring injury kept him out of the final three regular-season games of 2025.
Adams was just one of four significant injuries McVay detailed on Monday. Nose tackle Poona Ford is out for the season with a ruptured triceps, defensive tackle Kobie Turner is expected to miss several weeks with a groin injury, and kicker Blake Grupe tore an ACL covering a kickoff on Sunday.

Those losses arrive on a team that opened the season as a Super Bowl favorite and now sits 2-4, last in the NFC West after losing at home to a Cardinals team that never reached the end zone.
McVay said the Rams will discuss adding a receiver while Adams recovers. Adams is in the final season of the two-year, $44 million contract he signed in March 2025, and the deal’s 2027 year voids before the next league year, putting him on track for unrestricted free agency.
