Kohima, Oct 12: The Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) will organise the second edition of NextStepKohima 2026, an educational and career fair, on October 15 at Kohima Village Ground, Ziekezou, near Don Bosco College, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The one-day event aims to connect students with educational institutions, skill development centres, coaching institutes and scholarship opportunities to help them make informed decisions about higher education and careers.
Addressing a press conference, KVSU president Khriesaneituo Kire said the initiative was designed to provide students with reliable information to guide their educational and career choices. He urged students, including those who had dropped out of formal education, as well as parents and guardians, to attend.
Convenor Albert Rutsa said a pre-event survey found that students preferred pursuing education within Nagaland and the Northeast, while interest in skill development and emerging career sectors was also growing. The survey identified a lack of information as a major barrier to career planning.
Rutsa said the fair would enable students to interact directly with institutional representatives and learn about courses, admission procedures, facilities, faculty and available opportunities.
The organisers expect participation from more than 50 institutions and over 2,000 students. Institutions invited include Assam Don Bosco University, Martin Luther Christian University, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya and Christ University, Bengaluru, along with colleges and skill development institutions from Nagaland.
The fair will also provide information on scholarships, government-supported education programmes and vocational training. Representatives from AIDAN, NACDM, IDA and Government Polytechnic are expected to brief participants on available schemes and programmes.
Co-convenor Keneiser Mere said entry would be free and open to students, parents and educators. Visitors can attend at any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on October 15.
The organisers said the initiative aims to help students explore educational and career options, prepare for the next academic session and make informed decisions with access to reliable guidance.
