The Federal Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Gombe State Fire Service to prevent fire outbreaks and improve emergency response ahead of the 2026 Harmattan season.
The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, gave the assurance when the Director of the Gombe State Fire Service, Idi Musa Kwami, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to its command headquarters in Gombe.
The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two agencies and developing strategies to address the increased risk of fire outbreaks during the harmattan season.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the State Controller, the Head of the Human Resources Management Unit, DSF Isah Lamido, said the command was ready to work with the state fire service and other stakeholders to improve fire safety.
Lamido said collaboration, information sharing and public enlightenment were essential to preventing fire incidents and protecting lives and property.
He stressed, “The command is committed to collaborating with the Gombe State Fire Service and other relevant stakeholders towards building a fire-resilient Gombe State.
“Cooperation, information sharing, public enlightenment and coordinated emergency response are critical to reducing fire incidents and safeguarding lives and property across the state.”
Lamido also invited the Gombe State Fire Service to participate in the command’s 2026 Fire Safety Awareness Campaign Week, scheduled for November 2 to 6.
He explained that the campaign would educate residents on fire prevention and safety measures, particularly as the harmattan season approaches.
The command noted that the partnership reflected the shared commitment of both agencies to promoting a safer environment through preventive measures, public education and effective emergency management.
It urged residents, businesses, institutions and other stakeholders to adopt fire safety practices and remain vigilant throughout the Harmattan season and beyond.
Lamido, meanwhile, urged the public to recognise fire prevention as a collective responsibility, saying,
“Be vigilant, prevent fire, and protect lives and property,” the command advised.
