Jenna Ortega is Vogue’s November issue.
The 24-year-old actress stripped down to a more natural glam for her Szilveszter Makó portrait, styled by Tabitha Simmons.
On the cover, Ortega wears a dreamy white satin Dior slip dress while leaning on a stool barefoot.
The rest of the shots have an equally artistic quality, as is the photographer’s signature style, with Ortega posing in sculptural looks against trompe l’oeil backdrops.
In the inside pages, Ortega slips into everything from an asymmetric acid green Givenchy dress, Miu Miu mini tied with dismembered “Wednesday” braids and a Balenciaga Couture gown crafted of bright blue feathers.
Ortega has made a name for herself on the red carpet, leaning into method dressing for press tours like “Wednesday” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which has presented her largely to the public in a gothic theme.
She tells Vogue, “In my day-to-day life, I’m very practical, very comfortable. I’m a very low-maintenance person.”
Wednesday “has had such a profound impact on my life,” she continued, adding, “It’ll always be something people think of when they see me.”
It’s clear that Ortega is growing beyond the walls that might once have boxed her in — a metaphor that’s visualized through the shoot’s images.
Director Mary Bronstein told the publication of Ortega, “ [Jenna] has been put in some little boxes,” continuing, “I think that there are things that are in there that haven’t been brought out…. She has a poise to her that I’ve seen few people in their 40s or even 50s have.”
