The most exciting winter hair trends are all about transformation. From bold hair colors—pink! cherry cola!–to dramatic bob haircuts, the hairstyles that'll be most popular in late 2026 and early 2027 are perfect for anyone looking to make a change with their look in the new season.
That being said, if a bright hair color isn’t quite what you’re looking for, there are more subtle changes that might interest you: Inspired by the romance mega-movement happening right now in pop-culture (the upcoming ACOTAR releases, Sense & Sensibility, and Sterling Point, to name a few), sweeping romantic hairstyles are having a moment. That is, according to the first-ever Pinterest Beauty Trend Report, which predicts “Romantic Reverie” as one of the next big beauty trends. For hair, expect that to play out through soft curls and untamed waves.
Meanwhile, no one length has a monopoly when it comes to winter haircut ideas. According to Pinterest, bobs will continue their reign—but length is making a comeback, too. “I think we’re going to see more of a mix between short and long rather than one haircut completely taking over,” says Paulina Raciborski, hairstylist at New York City salon NYC the Team, who adds she’s getting “a lot of requests for softer layers and face-framing pieces.”
Long or short, bold or subtle, there’s a winter hair trend for everyone. Keep reading for the biggest winter hair color ideas, haircuts, and other hairstyles to look out for.

Every Shade of Pink

It seems everyone wants pink hair right now, just like It Girl Adéla. If going full pink is too risky for you, however, try just one colorful section with a semi-permanent dye (like this one from Good Dye Young). According to Pinterest, searches for “pink hair stripe” are up 463% since last year, while searches for pink hair dye streaks are up 190%. With a winter blonde base, it'll even play to the Strawberries and Cream color trend happening in fashion.

Whether you’re in full romantasy mode (hello, ACOTAR) or watching a more down-to-earth drama like Sterling Point, undone waves scream “main character.” But the season’s wave is more romantic than beachy: In fact, Daisy Edgar Jones's “Elinor cut” from Sense and Sensibility has already started taking off. To get the look, use an air-dry product like Odele Air Dry Styler, then hit it with a diffuser when your hair is mostly dry. If your hair isn’t naturally wavy, use a curling iron to add waves, wrapping sections around the iron in opposite directions for a less polished look.
Curly Cuts

On that same wavelength: Curly haircuts with dimension and layers are also going strong, with the curly butterfly cut (a layered, face-framing style) and curly shag both spiking in Pinterest searches.

Falling somewhere between brunette and red, this warm palette is having a major moment, with celebs like Keke Palmer, Gigi Hadid, and Megan Thee Stallion trying out various shades. For something more subtle, go for mocha balayage, or for a more dramatic take, try cherry cola brunette—both deep winter hair colors are seeing major search spikes on Pinterest.

Soft, Easy Bangs

Curtain bangs like Daisy Edgar-Jones’s are still a favorite. “I think bangs are going to continue being popular, especially curtain bangs and softer, wispy fringe,” says Raciborski. “They’re an easy way to change your look without committing to a completely different haircut.” Plus, the stylist adds, bangs behave better in cooler weather: “They’re easier to manage without the heat and humidity of summer.”
All Lengths of Bobs

Rumors of the bob’s demise have been greatly exaggerated, says Raciborski. “We’ve had so many versions of it over the last couple of years that I think people have realized there’s basically a bob for everyone,” she says, adding that she’s still seeing blunt bobs, French bobs, and softer, layered bobs, as well as longer bobs like Katie Holmes’s style.

Still, length—and lots of it—is also popular this season. “Long hair is definitely coming back, but it’s being worn with more intentional layers and movement instead of just one long, heavy length,” says Raciborski. Lara Raj of Katseye gets the memo with her flipped-out, wispy layers and deep side part for added effect.
