On Mother’s Day weekend, Buenos Aires offers a chance to revisit old memories, explore new worlds and stay out late.
Home Movie Day brings forgotten family films back to the big screen, while an immersive Mafalda exhibition lets visitors step inside Quino’s beloved comic strip. There’s vermouth and stargazing at Fuerza Bar, a crafty happy hour with pizza and Aperol, and a citywide game night for anyone feeling competitive.
Foodies can explore Japanese yakitori and Vietnamese street food at special pop-ups, while the music calendar features Babasónicos, Cuban jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca and a 25 anniversary concert for Leo García’s landmark pop album “Mar” —plus, a benefit concert for Argentine rock pioneer Kubero Díaz.
No plans this weekend? As always, the Herald’s got you covered.
Home Movie Day at the Buenos Aires Film Museum
Oct. 17, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Home movie day is an open, collaborative project, and all are encouraged to bring those homemade or family videos in Super 8mm, 8mm, 16mm, or 9.5mm formats to the event. You can bring anything you want — family films, vacation, birthday, wedding, travel, home recordings, or historic records.
An annual, worldwide celebration of amateur filmmaking, memory and family heritage, the event is a unique chance for those who don’t have the technology to watch old homemade films that have been sitting inside a closet or a box for ages.

Las Argies’ monthly crafting event for women traveling, visiting or living in Buenos Aires includes decorating glass cans with uv dtf stickers (si no sabés qué es, ya lo vas a entender, just trust me!) It works like going out for happy hour with friends, except you also decorate your own glass to take home.
The meet is at Fare, an Italian pizzeria in Palermo. No crafting experience is needed and all materials are included in the package. Food and drinks are not included and are paid directly at the restaurant.

A special-price Negroni Sideral and promotions on Sideral bottles to take home will add to the occasion. A cosmic-themed DJ playlist sets the mood. Reservations are available for the rooftop, sidewalk, dining room or store, but walk-ins are also welcome.
