After a late taste of summer in October, Portugal is heading for a cooler weekend. Temperatures will fall most noticeably in the northern and central interior, while the Algarve should stay mild on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday could bring light showers to parts of the North and Centre regions, particularly in the morning, although many places are expected to stay dry.
The cooler weather should become more noticeable on Sunday. Meteored forecasts highs of around 16°C in Guarda and 17°C in Bragança, while Porto, Braga, Aveiro and Coimbra could reach around 22°C. Lisbon should hold on to some warmth, with temperatures reaching approximately 26°C.
In the Algarve and Alentejo, Sunday’s highs should mostly sit between 22°C and 24°C — still pleasant enough for lunch outdoors, provided the weather plays along.
There is a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in both regions during the weekend, with independent forecaster Luso Meteo highlighting Sunday afternoon in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo.
The wind is also expected to pick up on Sunday, especially on higher ground. Despite the cooler conditions, Luso Meteo warns that dry air and easterly winds could keep the fire risk high.
