Dubai’s RTA has delivered projects at a record speed – twice as fast as the global benchmark
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council has unveiled the Dubai-it Awards’ first-ever winner – the Road and Transport Authority (aka RTA) in the Institutions in the Field of Government category.
Hailed for its record-breaking endeavours in the field of infrastructure building and its ability to deliver projects at speed, RTA took home the coveted plaque that signifies its role in making the emirate what it is today.
Launched earlier this year, the Dubai-it Awards is all about celebrating the people and organisations that make things happen. The awards are built around Dubai’s “Dubai-it” philosophy, which is all about taking ambitious ideas and turning them into reality through action, speed and excellence.
And just this weekend, Sheikh Hamdan presented the award to RTA, recognising the institution for its innate ability to quickly deliver major road, bridge and tunnel projects efficiently. Commenting on this, Sheikh Hamdan said, “Dubai-it means achieving something extraordinary with excellence in record time.” And if anything, RTA definitely deserves this win.

How has the RTA impacted Dubai’s growth?
This year alone, the RTA has opened up numerous bridges, roads and tunnels as a means to tackle traffic congestion.
It doesn’t just stop at roads and traffic flow, though. With RTA, mobility is at the core of its philosophy. Every new project and piece of infrastructure is designed to level up passenger safety, comfort, and seamless travel across the city. From engineering the oh-so-iconic Infinity Bridge to rolling out miles of new cycling tracks over the past year, they are constantly rewriting the city’s blueprint.
Plus, the Dubai Metro has set a benchmark when it comes to punctuality – you are pretty much guaranteed a connected commute with barely any delays.
Commenting on the win, Sheikh Hamdan added, “This is how we want our institutions to be: ahead of the city’s needs, respecting people’s time, and embodying Dubai’s speed and quality in work.”
