A 60-year-old fisherman was found dead after murdering his wife and son following a domestic dispute at their residence near Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district on Friday night.
According to police, K. Jalendran lived with his wife, Malarselvi, 55, and son, Athigugan, 23, at Thirumullaivasal. Following a domestic dispute on Friday night, Jalendran allegedly attacked his wife and son with an iron rod, killing them on the spot. He subsequently ended his life.
As the house remained locked for a prolonged period, neighbours grew suspicious and checked on the family, after which the incident came to light. They informed the Sirkazhi police, who recovered the bodies and sent them to the Sirkazhi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Further investigation into the incident is under way.
