An emotional outburst from Minister for Tribal Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani on Saturday exposed rift within the NDA alliance over the seat-sharing for the upcoming local body polls. She said both Salur and Palakonda municipal chairperson posts were allocated to JSP, and only Parvatipuram was given to the Telugu Desam Party in the district.
She urged the Parvatipuram-Manyam in-charge Minister K. Atchannaidu to convey the feelings of local TDP leaders and cadre to high command and work hard to reclaim the seat for TDP.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, she hoped that the seat would be allocated to TDP before the deadline for nominations.

Meanwhile, JSP has chosen Gorle Vijayakumari – a recent defector from rival YSRCP – for Salur municipal chairperson post. This decision by the JSP high command received flak from local party leaders, who claimed that Ms. Vijayakumari has not even formally resigned from YSRCP. They said that she was given the JSP ticket while ignoring seniors in the party.
