If there's one jacket style to have on your radar this autumn, it has to be the military jacket. Think decorative trims, ornate buttons and a polished, structured silhouette. Or, to put it simply, the kind of jacket that wouldn't look out of place in Cheryl Cole's Fight For This Love music video.
As of late, my Instagram feed has been flooded with the style, from sleek leather versions to opulent velvet iterations. But my favourite yet has to be from Sainsbury’s, whose in house fashion label Tu have given the trend a practical, cosy twist.

After military jackets made a return to the runway last year, courtesy of Alexander McQueen, it should come as no surprise that the high street (or, in this case, the supermarkets) have embraced the trend too.
While it might feel like an especially bold look, Sainsbury's has made it incredibly wearable by combining it with another defining trend of the season: the knitted jacket.

Essentially, it's a cardigan with a little more substance; it has all the cosiness of your favourite knit, but with a bit more weight and structure, working as a polished jacket on mild, autumn days. Once you have one, you’ll wonder how you ever went without.

And while some military jackets rely solely on those gorgeous but, admittedly, fiddly decorative buttons, Sainsbury’s has added an extra touch of practicality with a hidden zip. Bonus points.
Since it’s still part jacket, it has enough polish to be dressed up with ease. The slim fit makes it feel smart enough for the office, whether paired with tailored trousers or a pencil skirt. But it's also just as useful layered over casual basics, promising to be hardworking in your wardrobe.

At just £25, I'd say it's money very well spent. Really, the hardest part is choosing which colour to go for. Available in 2 chic, wearable shades: the navy option feels sleek and smart, while the khaki leans more into military inspiration.
With another winner, Sainsbury's seem to be taking over my wardrobe altogether.
