Police searched the home of Choi Choong-rak, 59, who was arrested after attacking 10 people with a knife at a large commercial complex in Incheon.
The search of Choi's home in Incheon's Gyeyang District began at 8 a.m. on the 17th and lasted about an hour and 20 minutes, the Incheon Namdong Police Station said. Ten officers, including investigators and forensic personnel, took part. Police collected notebooks, documents and other evidence to determine whether Choi had planned the attack in advance. Choi, who was present during the search, largely cooperated with the procedure, according to police.
Choi is accused of attempting to murder 10 people with a knife at the see&see commercial building in Incheon's Namdong District at about 1:48 p.m. on the 13th. The building houses a hypermarket and a movie theater.
Eight people were injured in the attack, including a 19-year-old woman who remains unconscious. The other two suffered no physical injuries, investigators found.
Choi told police he held a grievance against a hospital where he had been treated for a skin condition, and that he carried out the attack to draw public attention to what he saw as an injustice after the hospital reported him and he was questioned by police.
Choi has 10 prior convictions carrying fines or heavier penalties, including two previous attempted murder cases.
