When the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions meet up for their first of two 2026 regular season matchups on Sunday afternoon, nearly every media market in the United States will get to see the game on local television. These two teams have combined for five playoff appearances in the past three years, and both come into Week 7 with a winning record; as a result, FOX made it their late-afternoon game of the week when the NFL announced its schedule in May, and that slot has held up despite some early-season struggles on the Packers’ part.
In fact, the Packers have bounced back remarkably from a 1-2 start that saw their game against the Chicago Bears two weeks ago — also initially slated for a large viewership in the 3:25 PM window — get flexed back into the early afternoon. (To be fair, the injury to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams surely factored in as well.) Green Bay now sits at 4-2 and on a three-game winning streak, while the Lions are 3-2 and coming off a bye week.
These two teams have combined for some great games in the past few years, though 2025 saw the Packers sweep Detroit for the first time in Dan Campbell’s tenure as head coach of the Lions. Detroit is currently favored by 3 points, but this game very much feels like a tossup, especially if the Lions’ last-ranked passing defense continues to play the way it has to this point in the season.
Ready to watch some fireworks? Good, because unless you’re in California and Nevada, you’re getting this game on your local FOX affiliate. The only other game on FOX in this time slot is Rams-Raiders, which will have a very limited local viewing area this week. Packers-Lions is shown in red on this week’s broadcast map below, provided by 506sports.com:

As the top game on the network this week, Packers and Lions fans will get the network’s top broadcast tandem of Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady. Burkhardt has a day off from his duties as the pregame and postgame panel host for the World Series, but he’s not traveling far — games 1 and 2 will be held in Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday nights, giving him a short flight over Lake Michigan for Sunday’s game at Ford Field before he presumably makes a trip down to Tampa for Monday’s game 3.
