Canadian Man Breaks World Record With 40 Layers Of Tattoos On His Body

The Canadian, a former cook who now manages tattoo shops, recently secured a Guinness World Records title for the most layers of tattoos.

Schofield has covered over 90% of his skin, accumulating approximately 40 layers of ink. Certain areas of his body have been filled in more than 100 times.

"I always had crazy hairstyles, and I dressed sort of like gothic, very alternative," he told People Magazine.

"But I never actually expected to be that tattooed," Schofield admitted, explaining that buying a house and securing his finances finally allowed him to fund his vision.

"I enjoyed seeing the progress and changing things and being able to tweak things," he said, adding that it "became its own sort of addiction or hobby."

Had he tattooed his face, Schofield might have surpassed New Zealand's Lucky Diamond Rich for the title of the world's most tattooed living man.

Instead, he dedicates specific areas of his body to different themes, reserving his upper body and head for memorial portraits of his parents, his late dog, and his son's mother.

"I have some really silly, goofy one-offs on my legs," he said. "I always use my legs for inside jokes and funny things and things that wouldn't fit in with the rest of my upper body."

"Because I was already convinced that I wasn't going to have the record… it was just like, 'Whatever, I'm just going to keep doing my thing,'" he noted.

Schofield views his skin as an ever-evolving canvas, comparing this monumental milestone to finally earning a university degree after years of unwavering dedication.
