Toronto Police have identified a man who may have been involved in an alleged abduction involving three young children.
On Friday, police said they are looking for Somerda Miclescu, who does not have legal custody of the children, after she allegedly abducted the kids from a Scarborough residence.
“We are looking to speak with Ionut Stroe,” 41 Division Senior Duty Officer Jeff Allington said Saturday afternoon.
Stroe, 25, who police consider a person of interest in this alleged abduction, is wanted in matters not related to this case. He is wanted for four counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Stroe is described as approximately 5-foot-11, 235 pounds, with a tattoo on his right forearm. Police did not say how he was allegedly involved in this reported incident.
The vehicle in question is a white 2017 Ford Expedition with the Ontario licence plate DJJS 875.
“I can tell you that investigators are actively searching for (Miclescu) and her children and are following up on every lead,” Allington said. “Investigators are also following any leads in relation to the suspect vehicle and the direction which it travelled, or its current location.”
The incident

On Friday, Toronto cops say they responded to a call for an alleged abduction shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the Midland Ave. and Eglinton Ave. E. area.
It is alleged that three children – Anastasia, 4 months, Irina, 3, and Daniel, 6 – were taken during a semi-supervised visit by their mother.

“My understanding is that the mother does not have legal custody, and that the visit was at a relative’s house, with a relative present,” Allington said.
Miclescu, 22, is wanted for abduction by parent.
“We’ve got no information right now to suggest that she is trying to leave the province or the country,” Allington said. “… We don’t have any information right now that would lead us to believe that the mother is going to hurt or harm the children in any way.”
