The Jets are 2-4 with three one-score losses with Sunday's 26-19 defeat at the New England Patriots serving as New York's latest casualty.
"I don't think anybody feels good about being 2-4," said coach Aaron Glenn. "But I do feel good about the effort that we played with. I do feel good about a number of things that we're doing. There's just some things that we have to get ready to fix.
"And listen, there's no doubt about it that being 2-4, it doesn't feel good. But there are some things that I know that we can build on. And listen, we're looking for next week. We'll play a good team. ... Any team can go out there and beat anybody, so, listen, we look forward to getting back to practice and get ready going."
Unable to stack momentum after Week 5's 17-12 win over the Cleveland Browns, the Jets get the winless Miami Dolphins next Sunday at 1 p.m.
"I feel like we always have a chance to win every game that we play," said quarterback Geno Smith, who completed 20 of 30 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown to one interception against New England (4-2). "We did a great job of fighting back after the half and gave ourselves a shot. That's what you love to see in a competitive team. But like I always say, there's no moral victories. We have to find ways to win these games."
New York's young talent develops with plenty of football still to be played, but the urgency is there entering November.
"It's a long season," said linebacker Demario Davis. "It's a lot of football to be played. But every Sunday still out there on the field is one objective. And when you go on the road, you want to be able to -- you've got to play at a high level. And you're playing against a tough team on the road, you've got to bring your best football. I was grateful for the energy and the effort that our team brought, but you would love to be able to execute a little bit better just to walk away victorious.
"I think we're getting closer, we're getting closer and closer to where we want to be. But we're still not there yet, and that's the part that -- when you come back to work that you're trying to find -- you're constantly trying to find that. We know what our standard of excellence is and what we're striving for ... it's a reminder that we're not there yet, but we're close."
