The mother of three recently attracted criticism online after a photo of her wearing a yellow UDA cap went viral. Many of her fans were unimpressed by her decision to join politics, and some even criticised her for allegedly joining the ruling party, United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
A bold fan took to social media to caution the beloved presenter about joining politics
"Wachana na politics uta regret (stay away from politics you will regret)," the fan commented under one of her videos.
Lulu's reply was short, sharp, and unapologetic:
"Acha ni regret (Let me regret)."
The casual confidence of her response caught many off guard, signalling that the veteran broadcaster is not entertaining second thoughts about her next chapter.
Lulu Hassan eyes Mvita Constituency seat
Lulu has been openly positioning herself for a shot at the Mvita Constituency parliamentary seat in Mombasa County, branding herself as "Mama Mvita" as she builds her grassroots profile ahead of a potential campaign.
Word making the rounds in political circles suggests she is aligned with President William Ruto's ruling UDA party, which would give her significant backing should she formalise her candidacy.
For a journalist who has spent years behind the news desk, the leap into active politics is a bold one, though not entirely surprising. Lulu has long been a household name across Kenya, and her popularity in coastal communities could prove to be a real electoral asset.
The fan's warning, however well-intentioned, appears to have done little more than give Lulu a chance to show exactly how committed she is to the path she has chosen.
Stephen Letoo joins politics
In another story, TUK also highlighted facts about Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo’s bid for the Kilgoris parliamentary seat, including his ODM ticket and the political figures who attended his launch rally.
His dramatic helicopter arrival came as Letoo’s absence from television had fuelled speculation about his next move. Now he is trading the newsroom for the campaign trail in a constituency where President William Ruto owns an expansive farm.
