In the famous words of our queen Sabrina Carpenter, “That’s that me espresso.” And since she may have been singing about something other than her coffee order, I’m taking it as a sign to bring a little jolt of caffeine into my manicure routine. Enter: Iced latte nails, the creamy, coffee-inspired trend that combines milky whites, soft beiges, and warm caramel browns for a look that’s just as delicious as your morning pick-me-up.
Coffee-inspired manicures are nothing new (hello, espresso manis and chocolate brown nails), but the iced latte trend for fall offers a new, softer energy. Think of the way a fresh iced latte has ribbons of rich brown that swirl into a creamy light beige. That’s exactly the vibe here—and vibes are kind of all that an iced latte manicure is. Rather than being a super prescriptive trend, they’re as customizable as your drink order: Iced latte nails can really mean anything from sheer, milky finishes to marbled designs that mimic your favorite morning drink. (Yes, you could also just call these “light brown nails”... but where’s the fun in that?!) And while this time of year usually has us reaching for deeper, moodier fall nail colors, this lighter take on brown feels like the perfect way to embrace the season without going full-on vampy (hello, perfect transition color).
And just like your coffee order, there’s plenty of room for customization. Whether you prefer a simple creamy nude, a marble effect inspired by swirling espresso, or a French manicure with caramel-colored tips, the trend is oh-so versatile. Prepare to see a whole lot more of them in the upcoming months—Pinterest reports that searches for the design are up almost 300 percent. Ahead, everything you need to know about iced latte nails, plus plenty of inspo to check out.
What are iced latte nails?
If you’ve ever had an iced latte, I’m guessing you probably already have a pretty good idea of what these nails are going for. The manicure is inspired by the soft, swirling colors of the drink, incorporating shades of cream, beige, tan, caramel, and light brown.
Unlike its sister, the espresso manicure (which typically features a deeper brown shade), iced latte nails embrace a lighter, more blended palette and cooler-toned polishes that make them the perfect neutral and an ideal nude shade as we fully embrace fall. You can create iced latte nails out of anything from a sheer, milky tan polish to marbled nail art or soft beige swirls.
Why are iced latte nails perfect for fall?
Fall beauty has a well-documented love affair with coffee shop-inspired colors. From espresso-colored hair to chai latte manicures, the season practically runs on caffeine (as do I). But iced latte nails offer a refreshing alternative to deep, moody shades.
“I believe they’re popular for fall because brown is such a staple fall color,” says nail artist Meghan Artuso. “It is beautiful on every skin tone.”
There’s also something inherently expensive-looking about the combination of creamy neutrals and warm browns. The shades complement the camel coats, cozy sweaters, dark turtlenecks, and suede accessories that dominate fall wardrobes (or mine, at least). That said, the softer finish keeps the manicure feeling understated rather than overly seasonal, so I could easily see this trend sticking around well into winter and spring.
How to get iced latte nails
The easiest way to recreate iced latte nails is to start with a creamy nude or milky beige base. You could stop there to keep things simple, or add dimension with caramel, tan, and coffee brown accents. Artuso’s go-to options are Luxa Polish in Hazelnut or OPI Nail Lacquer in Over The Taupe.
For a more literal iced latte effect, ask your nail artist for a soft marbled design that blends milky white with warm brown polish.
You can also experiment with caramel French tips, coffee-colored aura nails, or a subtle ombré if you want a less literal interpretation. “Other fun ways to add nail art would be a tortoise shell accent nail, a gold outlined pumpkin, or even blooming gel with a darker brown for a crocodile print,” says Artuso.
