ST. PETERSBURG — After letting an opportunity slip through their fingers to take command of the American League Championship Series by losing both Game 4 and Game 5 at home after grabbing a 2-1 lead in the series, the Guardians face the Tampa Bay Rays in a win-or-go-home Game 6 on Monday, Oct. 19.
With a 3-2 series lead, the Rays need just one more victory to reach the 2026 World Series, where the Milwaukee Brewers await.
Below is some pregame information.
Shawn Armstrong to start Game 6 for Guardians vs Rays
The Guardians are again opening with Shawn Armstrong, meaning he’ll be pitching against the Rays for the third consecutive day, with two of them technically being starts.
Armstrong also opened Game 4, striking out one batter in one inning of work. He then pitched last night in Game 5, working 1 1/3 innings.
He’s been terrific in these playoffs — and one of the better stories on the roster considering it was unclear if his season was over several months ago — allowing only two hits and zero walks with six strikeouts in 7 2/3 scoreless innings.
