Amid several years of polarizing performances for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, many fans expressed their frustration over this year's performer.
Earlier this week, reports emerged that hip-hop superstar Jay-Z will headline the 2027 show, following Bad Bunny's performance in 2026 and Kendrick Lamar's in 2025.
Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, has built a business empire that includes his company Roc Nation, which partnered with the NFL in 2019 to help produce its Super Bowl halftime shows.
However, he still has a catalog of hits from his multiple albums and lengthy career, including "Hard Knock Life," "Big Pimpin'," "Empire State of Mind," featuring Alicia Keys, and "Crazy in Love," featuring his wife, Beyonce, who was the headlining act at the 2013 Super Bowl.

However, the report of Jay-Z as headliner drew criticism from many social media users, who voiced their frustration in replies to The New York Post's X post.
"The NFL needs to cancel their contract with this person. The halftime shows have been awful ever since he took over," one commenter said.
Another commented, "sick and tired of this guy deciding the superbowl show every year. We need rock bands to come back. Im tired of all this pop rap twerking bs every year."
"Out of the thousands of performers that are better than him, he chooses himself. I will flip the channel the minute halftime starts," someone wrote.
Others said, "He is the reason the half time show has been garbage for so long" and "Another halftime show I will not be watching good job NFL!"
Roc Nation has been the live event music entertainment strategist and co-producer of the halftime show starting with the 2020 Super Bowl. In addition to Bad Bunny last year and Kendrick Lamar the year prior, other Super Bowl halftime performers have included Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, and a hip-hop show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem, with special guests.
This year's Super Bowl will be held in Los Angeles, California, at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 14, 2027, which is also Valentine's Day. It's possible Jay-Z could bring out his wife, Beyonce, for several songs. He's also collaborated with Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, Alicia Keys, and Pharrell Williams, among other musicians.
