- Monthly deductions capped at 25 percent of a worker’s salary, with employers required to submit supporting documents
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has identified 13 grounds on which employers may submit requests to deduct salaries of private-sector employees, while stressing that all deductions must be legally justified, properly documented and kept within the prescribed limits.
The reasons include unpaid leave, sick leave, childcare leave, partially paid leave, suspension from work, leaving work without permission, refusal to work and absence. The authority’s regulations require employers to provide documents establishing the legality of each requested deduction and explaining the reasons behind it.
The maximum deduction permitted in a month is 25 percent of the worker’s salary, provided that supporting evidence confirming the legitimacy of the deduction is submitted. The requirements are intended to ensure that salary deductions are made in accordance with the applicable rules.
