Where does Iowa football rank in CBS Sports' 138 rankings?

Despite the Hawkeyes' bye this past weekend, Iowa saw upward movement in the latest CBS Sports 138 rankings entering Week 8.

Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) is now ranked No. 14 in the updated CBS Sports 138 rankings. It's a two-spot jump for the Hawkeyes. Minnesota—Iowa's opponent this week—checks in as the nation's No. 42 team, per the CBS Sports 138 rankings.

The Golden Gophers (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) are also coming off a bye week. Minnesota lost 41-13 at Purdue its last time out. Like Iowa, the Gophers own Big Ten wins over Washington and Michigan.

Alongside Iowa in the top 25 of the CBS Sports 138 rankings are Big Ten foes Ohio State (No. 2), Indiana (No. 6), UCLA (No. 7), USC (No. 17), and Northwestern (No. 19).

Iowa will look to improve its ranking and continue its stellar 2026-27 campaign with a rivalry win over Minnesota in the battle for the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 24, and will be broadcast on FS1.
