JERANTUT: Police are tracking down the owner of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that was destroyed by fire after overturning at Km26 of Jalan Jerantut-Kuala Tahan on Oct 13.
Distict police chief Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof said no one had come forward to lodge a police report or claim ownership of the vehicle, believed to be a white Toyota Wish.
"The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend about 5am, causing it to skid, overturn and catch fire.
"No victims were found at the scene. The vehicle's registration number was destroyed in the fire, and police did not find any identification documents inside the MPV," he said when contacted today.
Nor Azman said the driver, who was travelling from Kuala Tahan to Jerantut, was believed to have escaped before the vehicle caught fire but had yet to lodge a police report.
He urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the assistant investigating officer, Sergeant Muhammad Zuhairi Bani, at 016-959 1885.
