KOTA BARU: Amanah has been allocated eight state seats to contest in the Melaka election, subject to final approval by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, who is also agriculture and food security minister, said the allocation was the outcome of discussions at the PH level.
However, he said the final decision would be made by the PH presidential council on Oct 24.
"As of now, at the PH level, we have been allocated eight seats, but we have not yet finalised our contesting model. We will finalise the matter in the presidential council and announce it on Oct 24," he told reporters after attending the 2026 Kelantan Amanah Convention here today.
Mohamad said the actual number of seats Amanah would contest could depend on broader cooperation arrangements that were still under discussion.
The Election Commission has set Oct 31 for nomination, Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling in the Melaka election, following the dissolution of the state assembly on Sept 23.
