OnePlus has officially unveiled the OnePlus 16 in China, bringing a substantial set of upgrades to its flagship smartphone. The new device pairs Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor with a 200-megapixel main camera, an unusually fast 185Hz display and a 9,000mAh battery.
The phone also supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, making battery capacity one of its biggest selling points. For now, the OnePlus 16 is launching in China, with open sales scheduled to begin on October 31.
A 185Hz OLED display takes center stage
The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels. Its headline feature is a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, although that top speed is reserved for supported games. During everyday use, the display can operate at up to 165Hz.
The panel uses BOE’s X4 luminescent material and can reach a hardware brightness level as low as 1 nit, which should make it more comfortable to use in dark environments. OnePlus has also kept the bezels slim at just 1.15mm and included an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner beneath the display. For selfies and video calls, the phone comes with a 50-megapixel front-facing camera.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 powers the phone
The OnePlus 16 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Buyers can choose between configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the entry-level model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The camera system also gets a notable upgrade. The rear setup includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches, alongside a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera.
On the software side, the OnePlus 16 runs ColorOS 17, the Android-based operating system used by OnePlus in China.
A 9,000mAh battery and faster charging
The battery is another major change. OnePlus has equipped the device with a 9,000mAh cell, a capacity that exceeds what is typically found in conventional flagship smartphones.
The phone supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. While the large battery should provide plenty of capacity for demanding users, actual battery life will depend on factors such as screen refresh rate, gaming and network usage.

OnePlus 16 pricing and availability
The OnePlus 16 is available in three color options: Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece. In China, pricing starts at CNY 5,999 (approximately $896) for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The top-end configuration, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, costs CNY 8,499 (approximately $1,270).
Open sales are scheduled to begin in China on October 31. OnePlus has not announced international availability or pricing, so it remains unclear when the device might reach markets outside China.
