Geoffrey Mosiria, who served as a chief officer in Nairobi county, was dismissed from his position on Wednesday, October 21, hours after publishing a lengthy public statement on Facebook defending himself against corruption allegations and warning of alleged threats to his safety.

Mosiria addressed the statement directly to his boss, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja, whom he had previously signalled plans to challenge in the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Mosiria's denial of corruption claims
The statement was prompted by a video that had circulated online, in which a Nairobi county official serving at director level and as vice chair of the Liquor Board allegedly claimed that Mosiria, during his time as chief officer in the Health Department, had opened chemists near hospital entrances and redirected medicines meant for county facilities to pharmacies he allegedly owned.
Mosiria rejected the allegations in full. He said that during his tenure he procured medicines and oversaw their delivery to all 124 county health facilities, with area MCAs, community health promoters, chiefs, and community leaders present to witness the process.
"My boss, I want to set the record straight. I served you diligently and with integrity. My commitment was to ensure that patients received the medicines and services they deserved. I am a Christian who believes in humanity, accountability and the fear of God. I cannot deliberately steal medicines meant for sick and suffering people to enrich myself," he wrote.
He added that he considers public resources a trust and challenged anyone with credible evidence against him to present it through the proper legal channels, stating he would not be intimidated by unverified claims.

Alleged threats and planned attacks
Beyond the corruption allegations, Mosiria disclosed that he had received information suggesting that individuals were being mobilised to physically attack him and that there were alleged plans to implicate him in a criminal matter to destroy his career.
He acknowledged he could not independently confirm who was behind the reported threats but said he was taking them seriously, calling for his safety to be respected.
"I am a truthful man who values integrity. I will not abandon my principles because of threats, intimidation or attempts to tarnish my name. Violence, intimidation, and the abuse of public office have no place in our leadership," he wrote, urging that any threats against him be investigated and those responsible held accountable.
Mosiria also referenced previous legal attempts to challenge his position, saying he would continue to defend himself through lawful means.
Further, he stated, "I will not apologise for standing for what is right. My loyalty to public service, my conscience, and the people of Nairobi will not be compromised."
Who replaced Mosiria?
Meanwhile, at the time he published the statement, the county had not announced a reshuffle, which led to his dismissal as a chief officer for citizen engagement and customer service.
The reshuffle took effect immediately, with Zipporah Njeri Mwangi assigned to take over his functions.
He had previously indicated his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027, placing him in direct political opposition to Governor Sakaja.
