The Kansas City Chiefs may have to navigate another game without Rashee Rice. The wide receiver remained sidelined for Wednesday’s practice ahead of Sunday’s road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. According to the official Week 7 injury report, Rice did not participate because of hamstring and knee issues. That has raised further concerns about his availability. Seahawks beat writer John Boyle noted that Rice’s absence from Wednesday’s session was a discouraging sign. That’s particularly after Kansas City’s Week 5 bye failed to provide enough recovery time.

Rice initially injured his hamstring during the Chiefs’ Week 4 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He subsequently missed their Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Right tackle Jaylon Moore also missed Wednesday’s practice while going through concussion protocol. With Rice’s status uncertain and Tyquan Thornton out indefinitely, Kansas City could once again lean heavily on Xavier Worthy and tight end Travis Kelce. Worthy led the Chiefs with seven catches for 73 yards against the Chargers. Another high-volume outing could be on the horizon if Rice remains unavailable.
Rice’s 2026 season began with promise. He collected 13 receptions for 190 yards and a touchdown during Kansas City’s opening month. His ability to work underneath and create dependable options across the middle made him an important component of the passing game. That momentum stalled in Week 4, when the hamstring injury happened. Despite the bye week, lingering discomfort and knee soreness have delayed his return. Another missed game would leave the Chiefs without one of Mahomes’ most trusted targets. Kansas City will monitor Rice’s progress throughout the week. However, his lack of practice participation makes his availability against Seattle increasingly uncertain.
