The Cleveland Browns are preparing for a Week 6 matchup against AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland this Sunday, and rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion appears to have the green light to see action.
Concepcion was knocked out of last week’s Browns game against the New York Jets on the road after taking a big hit from Jets defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick during just Cleveland’s second possession of the contest.
The former Texas A&M Aggies star wideout was later diagnosed with a concussion, leaving his outlook for Week 6 unclear.
Browns Rookie Concepcion Speaks Out on Huge Fitzpatrick Hit
Fitzpatrick’s hit on Concepcion created plenty of buzz, but for the first-round rookie, it was anything but dirty.
“I know the game that I signed up to play,” Concepcion said Friday, via Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com (h/t Pro Football Talk). “This game is a very physical game. To me, it wasn’t a dirty hit. It was just a football play.”
Concepcion was a limited participant in the first two practices this week, but gave it a full og in Friday’s practice, a great sign for his availability versus the Ravens. Moreover, he has also cleared the concussion protocol.
“I thank the Lord, just for him allowing me to get back up and be able to walk off the field,” Concepcion added. “I’m like this all the time, smiling, dancing, cracking jokes. [But] I would say that I am glad that I was able to get up and be able to play again.”
Concepcion has yet to have a breakout performance in the league, but at least he’s healthy enough to help Cleveland in Week 6. On the season, he has 149 receiving yards with zero touchdowns on 18 catches and 29 targets.
