LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday ordered authorities to upload the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) question papers and their codes on the official website and keep them available until the admission process is completed.
Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi issued the ruling while deciding petitions filed by Noshaab A Khan and others concerning the examination.
The court observed that removing the question papers from the website would make it difficult for students to file objections.
It further held that taking down the papers would be contrary to the principles of transparency, directing that the question papers and their codes remain accessible until the completion of the admission process.
The ruling comes amid concerns over the credibility and transparency of the MDCAT in Sindh, a key entrance examination for students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.
Earlier, the federal government contacted the Sindh government over complaints regarding the examination and called for an independent and transparent inquiry.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) also wrote to Sindh’s health minister, asking the provincial government to investigate allegations related to the test.
The Sindh government was directed to complete the inquiry and submit a report within two weeks.
The development followed allegations circulating on social media that the MDCAT question paper had been leaked. Lawmakers had also raised concerns about the examination’s credibility and transparency.
