Defending Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Heart of Lions at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.
Emmanuel Annor opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Kingsley Braye struck twice in quick succession in the 64th and 66th minutes to seal all three points for Ibrahim Tanko’s men.
Medeama headed into the encounter looking to extend their winning run, and they delivered another impressive performance in front of their home supporters.
Annor broke the deadlock in the 28th minute to give the Yellow and Mauves a deserved lead heading into the break.
The hosts returned from the interval with renewed determination, and Braye made his mark in the second half, scoring twice within two minutes to put Medeama firmly in control of the contest.
Heart of Lions managed to pull one goal back, but it was not enough to prevent the visitors from suffering defeat as Medeama held on to secure a comfortable victory.
The result sees Medeama climb to the top of the Ghana Premier League table with 14 points, extending their winning streak to four matches.
Tanko’s side are also yet to taste defeat in the league this season, underlining their growing confidence as they continue their title defence.
Medeama will now turn their attention to a highly anticipated regional derby against FC Samartex next week at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, where they will aim to maintain their unbeaten run and preserve their position at the summit of the table.
