Every eligible U.S. customer can receive up to $100,000 in protection by activating OKX Shield, with no subscription or activation fee
OKX, a global cryptocurrency exchange and onchain technology company, today announced the U.S. launch of OKX Shield, a new account-protection program that provides eligible customers with up to $100,000 in financial protection at no subscription or activation fee if an unauthorized third party takes over their account and transfers assets.
Qualifying VIP 1–3 customers may receive up to $250,000 in protection, while qualifying VIP 4+ customers may receive up to $500,000.
“Protecting consumers is the first responsibility of any financial institution. With OKX Shield, every eligible American customer has real protection behind their account, so they can invest in digital assets with confidence, free from the fear of scams. When people trust the system, they participate, and that is how the next era of finance grows,” said Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, OKX Board Director.
To activate OKX Shield, customers enable a passkey, turn on large withdrawal protection, block web withdrawals and enable transaction verification. Shield also checks linked devices for malware, rooting or jailbreaking and guides customers through any necessary remediation. Protection remains active while these safeguards are in place.
OKX Shield covers eligible account-takeover incidents, in which an unauthorized third party gains control of an account and transfers assets, including through phishing, malware or SIM-swap attacks. Full eligibility requirements, coverage limits and exclusions are available in the OKX Shield Terms and Conditions.
