Salam TV Managing Director Hajji Karim Kaliisa has met Hoima City officials to promote the Omumanyi wa Salam TV competition, whose Bunyoro-Tooro regional finals are scheduled for Bwikya Hill.
Salam TV has stepped up community engagements in Hoima City ahead of the Bunyoro-Tooro regional finals of its Omumanyi wa Salam TV competition, scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The seventh edition of the competition will take place at Bwikya Hill in Hoima City from 8am to 1pm, bringing together participants and community members from the Bunyoro-Tooro region.
As part of the preparations, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, the Managing Director of Salam TV and Salam Charity, visited the office of the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) to extend an official invitation to the event.
Hoima City Deputy RCC Amuli Kintu Kasugga welcomed the team and commended Salam TV for its commitment to grassroots engagement through community-focused programmes.
Kasugga highlighted the impact of Omumanyi wa Salam and the Smart Community Programme, as well as the station's role in keeping Ugandans informed about national developments.
Kaliisa said Salam TV, under Next Media, prioritises mobilisation and community outreach to support socio-economic development.
“That is why we always work directly with the people — sensitizing them, supporting them and giving them hope,” he said.
He described Omumanyi wa Salam TV as one of the station's flagship programmes, saying it had helped the broadcaster reach communities with public awareness and empowerment initiatives.
Although the competition offers prizes including Umrah and Hajj trips, land titles, motorcycles and cars to encourage participation, Kaliisa said its broader objective was to sensitise communities and empower people.
During the meeting, Kaliisa handed over the official guidebook for the seventh edition of Omumanyi wa Salam TV to Kasugga. The publication outlines the competition and provides relevant information, including sample questions for participants.
The engagement concluded with a group photograph of Kaliisa and his team alongside the deputy RCC at the RCC offices.
The visit forms part of Salam TV's efforts to engage local leaders and communities ahead of the regional finals.
