A tribute from the family of Chief (Dr.) Joe (Ochendo) and Chief (Mrs.) Tina Nwodo
Our dear Nkiruka,
Your election as Chair of the British Nigeria Law Forum (BNLF) is a moment of profound joy and pride for our family. Beyond the distinction of the office, it is the story of your journey to this point that makes this achievement especially meaningful to us. We have watched you grow into a woman whose intellectual depth, courage, resilience and organisational ability have earned her the respect and confidence of her peers. Your emergence as Chair is a fitting recognition of these qualities and of the commitment you have consistently demonstrated in the course of your service to the Forum.
As you recalled in your acceptance speech, your journey with the BNLF began with your entry as a member. That journey has now brought you to its highest office. It is a reminder that leadership is built over time, through the willingness to contribute, the courage to take responsibility and the capacity to inspire the confidence of others.
For our family, however, this occasion carries a significance that goes beyond professional accomplishment. Your late father, Dr Joe (Ochendo) Nwodo, was a man of formidable intellect, strong convictions and a deep appreciation for education, leadership and service. As a prominent lawyer, he understood the value of knowledge and the responsibility that comes with the privilege of making a difference in society. He also had a remarkable ability to recognise potential in others.
We often reflect on how much joy this moment would have brought him. To see you entrusted with the leadership of an organisation that connects legal professionals across Nigeria and the United Kingdom would have been a source of immense pride. Though he is no longer here to witness this milestone, the values he cherished continue to find expression in your life and achievements.
Your election is, in its own way, a testament to the enduring power of those values. It is also a reminder that a legacy is sustained not merely through remembrance, but through the lives we lead, the standards we uphold and the contributions we make to others.
As you take on this responsibility, we pray that Almighty God grants you the wisdom to make sound decisions, the courage to pursue worthy ideals and the humility to remain open to the counsel of others. May your tenure strengthen the BNLF, foster deeper professional relationships between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and leave the Forum better positioned to serve its members and the wider legal community.
Nkiruka, we celebrate not only the office you have attained, but also the person you have become and the dedication that has brought you here. We are immensely proud of you, and we look forward with faith and confidence to all that lies ahead.
May God guide and uphold you in this new chapter.
With all our love, admiration and prayers,
The Family of Chief (Dr.) Joe (Ochendo) and Chief (Mrs.) Tina Nwodo
