The Miami Heat did not have the best season opener as they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blowout. It was a disappointing defeat for the new-look Heat with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
It seemed the Heat got too eager because the Timberwolves dominated them. Antetokounmpo tried his best with a 35-point performance, but the rest of the team struggled. This led to Bam Adebayo looking back on what happened, and he gave the reason behind the loss.
Bam Adebayo provides the context behind the Heat's first loss
As the leader and captain for the Heat, Adebayo was realistic with his reaction after the game. He even joked about how head coach Erik Spoelstra will make them watch back their defensive performance.
Giving up 131 points to the Timberwolves on opening night is not a good look for the Heat. However, they will have to learn from it because they have to meet the sky-high expectations.

Antetokounmpo lived up to the hype with his performance, but it seems that the rest of the Heat might have been too eager. At least, that is what Adebayo believes happened during the season opener at home.
"I think that build-up of wanting to play so good in front of our home crowd and obviously set the tone was not there. We’re gonna get back to the drawing board, watch film, now it’s real," Adebayo said about what happened to the Heat's loss on opening night.
This is an eye-opening loss for the Heat, as they will have to meet expectations. It will be challenging, but they are seemingly ready to do so moving forward, especially with Adebayo already addressing the problem.
