Kenya Railways Corporation has warned members of the public against fake job advertisements circulating on social media, cautioning job seekers against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, October 21, the corporation said the advertisement was fake and urged applicants to verify employment opportunities through its official website before submitting personal information or applications.
The fraudulent notice, titled Job Opportunity 2026, claims to invite applications for multiple positions at the corporation, including sales and marketing manager, passenger services manager, data entry clerk, driver, office assistant, and mechanical technician.
The advertisement lists dozens of vacancies across different departments, with some positions claiming to have more than 70 openings.

However, Kenya Railways has disowned the advertisement, advising job seekers to confirm recruitment announcements through its official website, rather than relying on notices shared through unofficial platforms.
“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing rounds on various social media platforms,” Kenya Railways warned.
“We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website.”
The warning comes amid a rise in scams targeting the corporation and members of the public, with fraudsters increasingly using fake advertisements and online platforms to solicit money or obtain personal information from unsuspecting Kenyans.
In July, the corporation warned passengers about fraudulent websites, social media pages and individuals impersonating the corporation to sell fake Madaraka Express passenger service tickets.
The corporation said customers were being misled into making payments through unofficial channels.
Additionally, some passengers reported financial losses after attempting to book train services through the fraudulent platforms.
Kenya Railways also said it was working with relevant security agencies to investigate the fraudulent ticket-selling schemes and identify those responsible for impersonating the corporation.
