Hisbah Board, an agency under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kebbi, has provided support for youths undergoing reformation at the Zuru Rehabilitation Centre. Director of Shariah of the agency, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed this in a statement on Friday.
Mr Kamba explained that the agency’s command in Zuru council area paid a visit to the rehabilitation centre in Zuru, met the youths who were undergoing rehabilitation for drug abuse.
He said, “During the visit, Hisbah officials interacted with the youths, held meaningful discussions with them, and offered religious guidance, counselling and advice on the dangers of drug abuse. They encouraged the youths to embrace positive lifestyles and remain committed to their recovery.
“As part of its humanitarian support, the Hisbah command provided essential items to the centre and the youths, including foodstuffs, clothing, detergent, soap, medications and other household necessities.”
According to him, the Hisbah command undertook to provide employment opportunities for some of the youths affected by drug abuse.
The initiative, he said, was aimed at helping the youths become self-reliant, productive members of society and reducing the risk of returning to drug abuse.
Speaking on behalf of the Rehabilitation Centre, the commander of the centre, Ishaku Hoke, expressed appreciation to the Hisbah command for the visit, support and commitment to the welfare of the youths.
Mr Hoke commended the Hisbah command for its efforts in providing religious guidance, counselling, encouragement and essential materials to support the rehabilitation process. He also offered prayers for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and blessings upon the board and its commands across the council areas.
The Hisbah board, according to Kamba, believes that with proper guidance, practical support and access to legitimate means of livelihood, youths recovering from drug abuse can rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their families and communities.
