Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) reflects on the devastating and traumatic loss of his son Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) in Emmerdale today.
The character heads into the cafe and finds Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) in tears, completely overwhelmed with grief following Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) death.
Nicola lost her beloved husband earlier this year, when Jimmy was forced to swerve his car to avoid hitting a distracted Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson). Jimmy crashed his car into a wedding marquee, which led to him and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) losing their lives.
The conversation about loss prompts Bob to discuss Heath’s death, and also reveal some news about his daughter.
Here’s a reminder of what happened to Heath:
Who was Heath Hope in Emmerdale and what happened to him?
On New Year’s Eve in 2023, Heath, twin sister Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) and pal Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) stole Wendy Posner’s (Susan Cookson) car to attend a party in Hotten.
Cathy was driving, but Angelica decided to take over. This proved to be the move that changed everything. Angelica crashed the car into a wall, and the injuries sustained by Heath eventually killed him.
In the aftermath, Angelica kept quiet about driving the car, which meant Bob fell apart over his daughter being responsible for his son’s death.
Angel eventually confessed the truth, which resulted in her spending time in a secure children’s home away from the village.
What happens to Cathy in Emmerdale?
Last year, Cathy left the village to go on a cruise with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop). In reality, the exit happened so star Gabrielle Dowling could focus on her exams.
Cathy was expected to return, but today, Bob tells Nicola that won’t be happening.
He reveals that Cathy has settled in Canada, and has no intention of coming back to the Dales.
