WiseTech Global has integrated its CargoWise Landside transport management systems (TMS) with marine terminal appointment software provider Dray Dog, enabling US drayage operators to automate port bookings and reduce manual data entry.
The integration connects Dray Dog with CargoWise’s Trinium, Profit Tools, and Compcare management systems, allowing dispatchers and customer service representatives to receive confirmed appointment details, including reference numbers, directly within their own TMS.
Dray Dog, a CargoSprint company, automates the process of securing marine terminal appointments by continuously retrieving available slots, and booking them according to predefined carrier parameters.
Container and operational data is exchanged between the systems, with information sent from the TMS to initiate scheduling and confirmed bookings returned, to update loads and dispatch plans in real time, and appointment details can also flow to driver-facing applications.
The move targets a longstanding administrative burden for drayage operators at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach that must coordinate terminal availability, appointment bookings, dispatch systems, and driver schedules across multiple platforms.
Former Harbour Trucking Association CEO Matt Schrap previously told The Loadstar: “You’re operating across several different platforms, not only in the port ecosystem, but within your own company. You deal with availability from the carrier or terminal, then find an appointment, then interface with dispatch software, just to get a truck out of the gate.
“To have a person doing that doesn’t make sense when software exists. It’s about efficiency.”
According to Mark Rabens, SVP transportation at Custom Goods & Quik Pick Express, the Trinium TMS-Dray Dog integration will ultimately save time and money, while improving customer service levels. He added that the ability to book earlier appointments would reduce “supply chain lag”.
And Jon Steitzer, head of Dray Dog, added: “Every minute counts in drayage.
“We built Dray Dog to give truckers the best possible tool to manage appointments at every step of the container lifecycle. Connecting with CargoWise Landside is exactly the kind of partnership that solves real problems, and delivers on our mission of helping drayage truckers win.”
Dennis Lane, head of revenue for CargoWise Landside Solutions, added: “By automating one of their most repetitive and time-sensitive tasks, the Dray Dog integration delivers immediate productivity gains.”
