According to The Daily Mail, who reached out to Acaster's representatives for comment, the comedian has reportedly been in a relationship with Hannah Rose since 2022. Although the couple do tend to keep their own relationship private, there are photographs of them together in group pictures alongside comedians such as Ed Gamble and Nish Kumar.
A family member told the paper, ‘They’ve been together for a few years now. They are very happy together. They lead a fairly quiet life together.’
The couple reportedly live together with their four cats: Terry, Alex, Ron, and Spider-Man. Felines played a big part in their initial bond, too, with James admitted while on the Fwends podcast that getting on with his partner’s late cat, named chicken, helped to win her over.
He explained, ‘She was like, “Listen, I’ve got a cat but [it] doesn’t like people… don’t take it personally.” I went in, Chicken was sitting on the stairs which are right in front of the door. And I just went right up to Chicken, and Chicken was just like, “Yeah, I love this guy.” […] I’m like, this has probably just bought me 10 years.’

The podcast was all about James’s favorite music from the year 2016 - which he dubbed the ‘greatest year for music of all time.’
The show’s premise read, ‘Following a breakup, James set out to rekindle his love for music by buying hundreds of new and niche releases from 2016. In an ironic twist of fate, it turns out that James wasn’t exactly hiding his relationship from fans. Rather, we weren’t paying enough attention.
In a newsletter, he previously wrote, ‘The cats wake us up around 6:30am. Feed them, do all the cat stuff. Go to this place nearby to get breakfast, get myself from bircher muesli, filter coffee, bring it back, eat breakfast with my girlfriend. Think about doing exercise, spend the whole day putting off the exercise, do it at 5pm, do yoga, go to the gym, feed the cats again and then try and find something to watch, usually a film.’
