As part of his ongoing stakeholder consultations, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has met with the leadership of the Ghana Health Information Management Association, the Ghana Association of Community Mental Health Officers, and the Nutrition and Dietetics Association of Ghana.
They discussed professional cadre recognition, legislation, recruitment, regulation, and improved conditions of service.
Dr Bawumia said that every conversation offers an opportunity to better understand the issues and helps us design tailor-made policies to serve the people of Ghana.
"I am grateful to all three organisations for affording me the opportunity to tap into their rich insights," he wrote on Facebook after the engagement on Wednesday Octpober 20.
Earlier, Dr Bawumia also met with the Association of Garment and Apparel Manufacturers to discuss the challenges facing the industry and explore ways to make it more competitive internationally.
He said the sector has great potential to create jobs, support local businesses and grow Ghana’s economy.
"We agreed that compared to countries such as Bangladesh and Benin, Ghana does not adequately support the garments industry. This must change going forward.
"I thank the Association for the open discussions and valuable contributions, which will help shape our policies for the sector," he said.
