Fans demand You Can See Everything documentary on Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes gets early UK release as unexpected box office smash featuring Amanda Seyfried gets historic Oscars push

Fans are demanding an early UK release of the You Can See Everything documentary as it gets a historic Oscars push.

The three-hour documentary, featuring Amanda Seyfried, will be released in the UK on November 20, a month after its US debut on October 16.

It follows convicted tech fraudster Elizabeth Holmes during the month before she began an 11-year prison sentence in 2023.

Co-directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, it has been building momentum since it was unveiled at a secret screening at the Telluride film festival in Colorado in September.

A teaser trailer released the same day quickly went viral online, featuring Elizabeth unblinkingly asking first-time feature film-maker Nathan: 'Why would I deceive you?'

It grossed a remarkable $15million (£11.3million)for its US debut, making it the biggest US opening for a documentary in more than 20 years.

Following its release, You Can See Everything has garnered rave reviews and is already being talked about as an Oscar contender as we head into awards season.

It's predicted to become the first documentary in the 98-year history of the Oscars to secure a Best Picture nomination.

The documentary currently holds staggering, near-perfect ratings across Rotten Tomatoes (98 per cent) and Metacritic (99).

Now, a month before the documentary reaches UK cinemas, tickets for screenings are already selling out.

Eager UK viewers have demanded that the documentary get an early release.

They fumed on X: 'You Can See Everything is rapidly climbing Gold Derby's combined Oscar odds into the Top 10 for Best Picture,'

'I can't believe that I have to wait over a month if I want to watch You Can See Everything in the UK,'

'You can see everything not getting a UK release until another month,'

'Seeing everyone watching You Can See Everything while it doesn't release for another month in the UK,'

'Release You Can See Everything in the UK RIGHT NOW,'

'It's really bugging me we have to wait for this film of all films,'

'The UK release of You Can See Everything is NOVEMBER 20th??? How on earth am I meant to wait that long when all my oomfs are going rn,'

'I absolutely hate that I can't see it yet, the UK release is in November.'

Creative director of Picturehouse Cinemas, Clare Binns, said the excitement was similar to Greta Gerwig's Barbie, which became a global box-office phenomenon in 2023.

'People are hungry in a way that we haven't really seen since then,' she told The Guardian. 'And for it to be a three-hour documentary, it's bonkers.'

According to the publication, Cineworld has also reported strong demand, with initial screenings at its Leicester Square venue sold out after tickets went on sale at about 40 cinemas on Sunday.

The chain has since added more screenings at Leicester Square and expanded bookings to a further 35 cinemas nationwide.

Meanwhile Vue has reported similar excitement.

Dean Cross, its senior screen content manager, told the publication that You Can See Everything was 'seeing incredible buzz both within the industry and amongst cinemagoers'.

Elizabeth, the founder and CEO of the failed blood-testing company Theranos, was on top of the world before she was indicted in June 2018.

But after prosecutors accused her of lying to investors about what Theranos's technology could actually do, she was charged with nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

She was found guilty of defrauding investors in 2022 and sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison.
