Man sentenced to 20 years in prison in POCSO case

A special court for POCSO cases in Tiruvallur district sentenced a 29-year-old man to 20 years in prison for abducting and sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2019.

According to the Ennore All-Women Police, a case was registered against M. Ramakrishnan, a resident of Kodungaiyur, following a complaint lodged by the mother of a 13-year-old girl. The complaint alleged that Ramakrishnan had abducted and sexually assaulted the girl on January 2, 2019.

After completing the investigation, the police filed a final report before the Special Court for POCSO cases in Tiruvallur district. On conclusion of the trial, the court on Monday found Ramakrishnan guilty and sentenced him to a total of 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of ₹20,000.
