The Chicago Bears could get quarterback Caleb Williams back under center in Week 6 versus the Atlanta Falcons as the former No. 1 overall pick continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
The Falcons are hoping to have their own starting signal-caller available for Sunday's contest as well, with Michael Penix Jr. dealing with a rib issue.
Atlanta head coach Kevin Stefanski gave a positive injury update Wednesday regarding the 2024 eighth overall draft pick.
Penix Jr. missed the first two games of the campaign while making his way back from last season's partially-torn ACL.
The 26-year-old's return in Week 3 provided a much-needed spark to the Falcons' offense, as Atlanta scored just 16 points combined in Weeks 1 and 2 (both losses) before erupting for 80 points over the next two contests, which were victories.

Penix Jr. suffered his rib injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss against the Baltimore Ravens and was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa for overtime.
The latter threw a game-ending pick-six in the extra frame and the Falcons fell to the Ravens, 30-23.
It was reported on Monday that Penix Jr.'s injury "is not considered serious," but Atlanta "wants to be cautious and see him practice this week" before making a decision for Week 6.
The former University of Washington quarterback is 52-for-77 with 719 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception for a 104.8 passer rating across three games this fall.
