African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), saying they represent a means of demanding change through the ballot.
Atiku made the call in a post on X, where he highlighted the economic hardship and insecurity confronting families across the country.
He said parents were worried about feeding their children, pensioners struggled to afford food and medication, while many young Nigerians found it difficult to meet basic needs despite working hard.
According to him, families also continued to live with the fear of kidnapping, attacks and uncertainty over the safety of their loved ones.
“My fellow Nigerians, young and old, I know the pain you are carrying,” Atiku wrote.
He added: “No family should have to face hunger and insecurity at the same time. We cannot allow this hardship and fear to become the future our children inherit.”

The former vice president urged registered voters to obtain their PVCs and keep them safe ahead of the 2027 general election.
“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change,” he said.
Atiku also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, promising to work towards making life more affordable if elected president.
“Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves,” he stated.
He called on Nigerians across generations to unite in pursuit of a country where families could live with dignity, safety and hope.
“Let us stand together, across generations, and vote for a Nigeria where every family can live with dignity, safety and hope,” Atiku added.
The 2027 general election is expected to feature contests for the presidency and other elective offices, with economic conditions, security and the cost of living among the issues raised in political discussions.
