PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians in Riyadh are safe and have not been affected by Houthi attacks, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
He said the ministry were receiving daily reports from the Malaysian embassy in Riyadh and consulate in Jeddah on the safety and welfare of Malaysians in Saudi Arabia.
However, Malaysians there have been advised to stay home, avoid public areas and locations that could be potential targets.
They are also encouraged to use the e-Konsular facility to contact the embassy for assistance.
"The embassy is in contact with Malaysians in the country to ensure their welfare and safety," Mohamad said.
It was reported that about 250 Malaysian students in Riyadh, Madinah and Makkah were safe, with lectures continuing as usual.
Following attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, several universities in the city have reportedly moved their classes online.
In Makkah and Madinah, physical classes continue.
Mohamad also said some Malaysians were stranded in Jeddah following the cancellation of return flights, as several airlines, including Malaysian carriers, could not operate.
However, he added that the situation was temporary, with Malaysia Airlines offering affected passengers accommodation at locations designated by the airline and making alternative flight arrangements.
He advised Malaysians without urgent reasons to travel to Saudi Arabia to reschedule their trips amid continued security concerns.
