Colombo, Oct. 16 (Daily Mirror) - The public has been urged to maintain a quiet environment around the treatment site of Kavantissa, an elephant reported to be in critical condition, to avoid disrupting the efforts of veterinary teams working to save the animal.
Specialist veterinary teams from the Department of Wildlife Conservation are continuing treatment around the clock, administering intravenous fluids and essential medication in an effort to stabilise the elephant’s condition.
Veterinary personnel have stressed that crowds, loud noises and drone operations near the treatment site could cause additional stress to the animal and interfere with the medical procedures being carried out.
A calm environment is considered important during treatment, particularly when veterinarians are attempting to stabilise vital physiological functions, including heart rate and blood pressure.
The public has been requested to refrain from entering the treatment area unnecessarily, avoid gathering near the site, refrain from making loud noises or operating drones, and allow the veterinary teams to carry out their duties without interruption.
Authorities have appealed to those concerned about Kavantissa’s welfare to cooperate with the medical teams by giving the animal the quiet surroundings needed during treatment.
