A Malaysian e-hailing driver wins praise for her honesty after returning RM900 mistakenly paid by an Indonesian passenger, keeping only a RM10 tip
A MALAYSIAN e-hailing driver has won praise online for her honesty after an Indonesian passenger mistakenly handed her RM900 instead of the correct fare.
The driver had dropped the woman off at her destination when the passenger, apparently confusing Malaysian ringgit with Indonesian rupiah, handed her the cash.
However, the driver told the passenger to take back most of the money, explaining that the fare was RM90 and that she only needed RM100.
“Take back the money. Just one note only. This is RM100, and your fare is RM90. This is not Indonesian rupiah, ibu,” she told the passenger.
Touched by the driver’s honesty, the Indonesian woman decided to let her keep the remaining RM10 as a tip.
“It’s OK, take it,” she told the driver, who appeared delighted by the gesture.
The video was uploaded by a Thread account @nyzamferiy.
Netizens praised the Malaysian driver, describing her as a “pretty and honest” woman. Others called her “cute” and said they were proud of her honesty.
“Thank God she met an honest woman. If it had been someone else, she might have been cheated,” one netizen wrote.
Another commenter said both women were kind-hearted.
“Luckily, the passenger met a kind lady who did not take advantage of her,” the commenter added.
“Good people get happy over a RM10 tip,” another user remarked.
Another netizen wrote: “Look at how happy she is after receiving the RM10 tip the right way, instead of taking the whole RM900.”
