Gospel singer Dumi Mkokstad, real name Mdumiseni Nzimande, appears to have taken the "keep calm and carry on" approach following a social media storm that erupted after private, flirty messages, believed to be between him and another woman, were leaked online. While the internet has been buzzing with opinions, Mkokstad has continued posting and engaging with his followers without a single word about the scandal.
The screenshots, which surfaced on 14 October 2026, quickly spread across social media and have become a major talking point among critics and several public figures. However, despite trending on social media for several days, the gospel singer is keeping his head down amid the storm.
On the day of the leak, Dumi posted a video of rising gospel singer Nomini Nyawose's radio interview. Days later, on 16 October, he promoted her performance and album Hosana, as well as that of gospel star Hlengiwe Mhlaba.
Much like Mkokstad, his Instagram followers have read the room and not said a word about the scandal in his comment section, choosing only to speak about what he has posted at the time.
Dumi Mkokstad's wife breaks her silence
His wife of seven years, Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, however, has broken her silence, but instead of addressing the leaked screenshots directly, she turned attention to a separate but deeply personal battle she has been fighting: the weaponisation of her name on TikTok.
Dr Nzimande revealed that more than 200 fake accounts on TikTok have been created using her identity, with those accounts reportedly spreading misinformation and directing hateful messages at other people. She urged her followers and supporters to stay alert and "please be vigilant."
In an emotional statement, she described just how much the situation has worn her down.
"My name has been dragged into things that I have nothing to do with for a while now. I am not sure why I am such a target but it has been debilitating," she wrote.
Her message made it clear that the impersonation crisis has been an ongoing ordeal, not simply a consequence of the recent scandal surrounding her husband.
