Egypt said it’s ready to offer any kind of support to Saudi Arabia in its fight with Houthis in Yemen, as the conflict spills further into the kingdom with recent strikes on its airports, Bloomberg reports.
“Whatever is being asked by the Saudis, of course we will respond,” Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty told Bloomberg television when asked about the possibility of Egyptian military support to Saudi Arabia.
“Without any reservation we are providing all kind of support,” he said.
Abdelatty added that Egypt maintains close ties with Pakistan and Turkey, countries that are parties to the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement with Saudi Arabia, and noted that Cairo was seriously considering joining this pact.
